An Indian Army contingent has arrived at Fort Wainwright in Alaska to take part in the 21st edition of the India–US Joint Military Exercise Yudh Abhyas 2025. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared the update on social media, noting that the exercise began yesterday and will run until September 14.
According to the Defence Ministry, the Indian side is represented by a battalion of the Madras Regiment, while the US troops include soldiers from the 5th Infantry Regiment, popularly known as the “Bobcats” of the Arctic Wolves Brigade Combat Team, under the US 11th Airborne Division.
Over the two weeks, the armies will practice a wide range of tactical drills such as heliborne operations, mountain warfare, the use of unmanned aerial systems, surveillance, artillery, aviation, and electronic warfare. Subject experts will also lead working groups on critical areas including UAS and Counter-UAS operations, logistics, communications, and information warfare.
The exercise will conclude with jointly planned live-fire drills and high-altitude warfare scenarios, focusing on enhancing interoperability for United Nations peacekeeping missions and strengthening readiness for multi-domain challenges.
