Jammu: Thirty-two air warriors from the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Jammu station completed a six-day basic disaster-management training conducted by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), an official spokesperson said on Saturday.

The course was held at the SDRF headquarters and was specifically designed for personnel from the 23rd Wing of IAF-Jammu station. It ran from September 1 to September 6.

Aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness and response capabilities, the program combined theoretical sessions with practical exercises. Participants were trained in essential life-saving techniques and protocols to ensure they can respond effectively during emergencies.

The training also emphasized inter-agency coordination, highlighting the strong collaboration between the IAF and SDRF in boosting community resilience.

Zahid Manhas, Commandant of the SDRF’s 2nd Battalion, noted the increasing importance of preparedness in an era of frequent and complex disasters. “Through initiatives like this, we aim to strengthen response capabilities. The skills acquired will enable our air warriors to act decisively and efficiently in critical situations,” he said.
