SRINAGAR: To strengthen direct market linkages, 35 artisans and weavers from Kashmir will participate in the 44th edition of the prestigious India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2025, being held from November 14 to 27 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
Organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), IITF is the country’s largest and most prominent trade-cum-consumer fair, drawing lakhs of visitors each year.
According to a press statement issued by the Handicrafts and Handlooms Department, Kashmir, the list of 35 participants was finalized through a draw of lots on the request of the Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization. The selected artisans and weavers include five each from Srinagar and Budgam; three each from Baramulla, Ganderbal, Anantnag and Bandipora; two each from Kupwara, Shopian, Pulwama and Kulgam; and five from registered Cooperative Societies.
The spokesman noted that IITF will offer globally acclaimed Kashmiri artisans a valuable platform to directly showcase and sell their handcrafted products to domestic and international buyers. These include Pashmina and Kani shawls, Sozni and Crewel embroidery, hand-knotted silk carpets, walnut wood carvings and papier-mâché items.
“This is a golden opportunity for our artisans to engage directly with buyers. IITF 2025 will not only spotlight Kashmir’s GI-tagged handicrafts on an international stage but also empower our craftsmen economically by ensuring they receive the full value of their work,” the spokesman said.
