New Delhi: In a major security concern near the national capital, Jammu and Kashmir Police have recovered 350 kg of ammonium nitrate, an AK-47 rifle, and ammunition from Faridabad, Haryana. The recovery comes just days after the arrest of a Kashmiri doctor from Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur for allegedly putting up posters supporting the terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in Srinagar.

Sources said the explosives haul was uncovered following revelations made by Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather during interrogation. The cache was reportedly stored with another doctor, Mujahil Shakeel, who is now under investigation.

Police are probing the motive behind storing such a large quantity of explosives so close to the national capital and are investigating how the material was transported without detection.

The case began when Srinagar Police registered an FIR after JeM posters appeared across several parts of the city. CCTV footage led investigators to Rather, who was later traced and arrested from Saharanpur.

Earlier, an AK-47 rifle and ammunition were seized from Rather’s locker at the Government Medical College in Anantnag. Officials said the Faridabad recovery was the result of a joint operation between Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana Police.

Rather has already been charged under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Investigators believe his alleged role points to a worrying trend of terror networks recruiting educated professionals into their ranks.
