Kathmandu: Eastern Nepal experienced a 4.4-magnitude earthquake on Friday night, officials reported. The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre said the tremor struck Sankhuwasabha district at 11:15 pm, with its epicentre in the Maghang area.
The quake was felt across several districts in Eastern Nepal, but authorities confirmed there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
Nepal, located in a high seismic-risk zone, frequently faces earthquakes. In April 2015, a devastating 7.8-magnitude quake claimed nearly 9,000 lives and destroyed over half a million homes across the country.
