Jammu: A group of Indian Army personnel from the Tiger Division embarked on a 7-day white water rafting expedition from Padum to Nimu on river Zanskar covering total 240 km. The initiative aims to pay tribute to courage and sacrifices of Indian soldiers who fought the 1965 Indo-Pak War.
In a unique blend of remembrance, adventure and social outreach, GOC Tiger Division flagged off the expedition which will traverse Hanumil, Neyrak, Chiling and culminate at Nimu. The 17-member team will start from Padamon on 26 July and conclude its journey on 01 August.



This event will commemorate the bravery and sacrifices of 1965 war heroes and to inspire local youth by demonstrating physical endurance, teamwork and leadership. The expedition team will conduct interactive sessions with students and youth organisations to motivate and create awareness about various entries to join Indian Army. The expedition will also conduct medical camps in the villages which are enroute creating a bridge for people who are unable to access these due to remote locations. The initiative also aims to promote adventure sports showcasing region’s untapped potential.
