Rajouri: In a ground breaking initiative aimed at empowering women in the South Pir Panjal region, the Indian Army conducted a specialized Beautician Training Course at Palma, Rajouri. This effort is part of a broader strategy to uplift rural women by providing them with valuable skills that can empower them towards independence and economic progress.
The three-month National Skill Development Corporation-certified Beautician Course was offered at no cost to the participants and provided training in essential skills such as hairstyling, makeup artistry, skincare, and other beauty services. For many of the trainees, this course represented an opportunity to step outside traditional roles and engage in an entrepreneurial venture that could transform their lives. The training curriculum was designed to provide hands-on experience with expert instructors, visits to salons for exposure, and the handover of kits to trainees, taking into account the region’s cultural values while introducing them to contemporary beauty techniques in demand in both urban and rural areas. Local women, especially from villages surrounding Palma, eagerly embraced the opportunity.
Participants expressed their gratitude for the Indian Army’s efforts and acknowledged that it was a rare opportunity to gain a skill that not only allowed them to support their families but also contributed to their self-esteem. The Indian Army’s initiative not only goes beyond teaching beauty techniques but also fosters a sense of empowerment among women who have long been confined by social and economic barriers. By providing a structured learning environment, the Indian Army has not only offered valuable skills but also created a platform for women to connect, share experiences, and encourage each other to overcome obstacles. The beauticians are expected to spark a chain reaction, with many participants already planning to start their own ventures and work as independent beauty professionals. This will significantly reduce unemployment and provide much-needed economic growth in the area.
