5 batches sensitized about vital provisions of 3 laws

JAMMU: The Traffic Police City Jammu organized a series of orientation sessions on the three new criminal laws, acquainting the officials about the core provisions.

The orientation was imparted to 5 batches which started on Feb 17, and concluded today with a simple but impressive valedictory function held in Conference Hall of District Police Lines Gandhi Nagar. 

Lectures regarding implementation of the three new criminal laws were delivered by Additional SP Traffic City Jammu Arvinder Singh Kotwal; Dy. SP Traffic City South Jammu Faisal Arif Rishu and other officers.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Traffic Range Jammu Dr. Mohammad Haseeb Mughal, was the Chief Guest at the valedictory function, while District & Sessions Judge (Retd.) Subash C. Gupta and Joint Director Prosecution, (Retd.) Pawan Kumar Khajuria were the guests of honour.

SSP Traffic City Jammu Faisal Qureshi; Addl. SP Traffic City Jammu Arvinder Singh Kotwal; Dy. SP Traffic City South/ North / Rural Jammu and other officers/ officials of Traffic City Jammu  also attended the valedictory event .

In his address, DIG Traffic Range Jammu – the Chief Guest   briefed the participants about the new criminal laws including Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS), National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS), Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), Integrated Road Accident Database (IRAD) and use of technology in investigation process.

Explaining the spirit of the new laws, he said these centre around the concept of speedy justice, accountability and transparency and victim centric approach.

District & Sessions Judge (Retd) and Joint Director Prosecution (Retd)  provided valuable information regarding the major changes introduced in the three new criminal laws and held discussion with the participants about their doubts and queries.

The participants/ traffic officials were thoroughly briefed about the new changes introduced in the laws like Zero FIR, electronic registration of FIR, introduction of videography during search and seizure, use of handcuffs and other aspects related to introduction of community services in petty offences, the concept of organized crime and the addition of terrorist act in BNS.

Earlier, Dy. SP Traffic City South Jammu welcomed the guests and presented a brief on the changes in the three new criminal laws.

The function ended with the Vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and other participants by SSP Traffic City Jammu.
