Doda: As part of ongoing outreach and helping local population, the Indian Army unit located at Bhaderwah has taken an initiative to conduct ‘Distribution of Solar Lights for Gujjar & Bakkarwals at Seoj / Triangle Ghat’ wef 08 Mar to 09 Mar 2025. Seoj, Triangle Ghat,and Marmat are located in the foothills of the Himalayas at an altitude of 1650 meters.
The region is known as mini Kashmir due to its pristine beauty and rich cultural heritage. The region witnessed an insurgency during the peak of militancy, however, the situation has been peaceful and normal for more than a decade now. Due to the presence of large number of Educational Institutes to pursue higher education and the literacy rate of the area, it is also termed as Kerala of J&K. The region has also been accorded status of additional district considering its vast area, prevailing peace and separate identity.
Good communal harmony exists between both the communities who are in almost equal ratio. A popular demand for provision of Solar Lights had come from the people of both communities from villages of the remotest area of Seoj, Triangle Ghat, Bhaderwah & Marmat. A total of 40 solar lights were distributed to the civil population by the Indian Army.
