Kishtwar: In continuation of its efforts to support local communities and improve their living conditions, the Indian Army organized a welfare initiative under Op Sadbhavana on 16 Mar 2025 at village Sigdi, Horna & Navapachchi of Kishtwar district of Jammu & Kashmir. As part of the initiative, solar lights and blankets were distributed to the Gujjar & Bakkarwal community, addressing their essential needs for sustainable lighting and protection from harsh weather conditions.

The Gujjar & Bakkarwal community, known for their nomadic lifestyle, often face challenges related to infrastructure and basic amenities. The provision of solar lights will help enhance their daily lives, especially in the remote areas with limited access to electricity, while the blankets will provide much-needed warmth from the harsh weather.

The initiative is a testament to the Indian Army’s commitment to nation-building, community welfare and fostering goodwill in the region. The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude, acknowledging the Army’s continuous support and dedication towards improving their quality of life. The camp benefitted 425 locals, reflecting Indian Army’s commitment towards community service and holistic rural development. Op Sadbhavana remains a key pillar in strengthening the bond between the Indian Army and the people of J&K, ensuring sustainable development and fostering harmony.
