Ramban: On the occasion of its ongoing community outreach initiatives, the Indian Army organised a Lecture-cum-Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse and Its Prevention at Govt Degree College, Ukhral, reaffirming its steadfast commitment to public welfare and youth empowerment. The campaign aimed to sensitize students and faculty about the grave menace of drug addiction and the collective responsibility of society to combat it. The event saw an encouraging participation of 62 students, 09 teachers and 20 locals, all eager to understand the perils associated with substance abuse and the ways to safeguard themselves and their peers.
The programme was conducted by the Indian Army’s experienced officers and medical professionals, who comprehensively addressed the causes, warning signs, health hazards, and social consequences of drug abuse. Special emphasis was laid on preventive strategies, the role of family and educational institutions, and the importance of early intervention and rehabilitation. The interactive nature of the session allowed students to voice their concerns and clarify doubts during an engaging Q&A segment, reflecting their keen interest and awareness of this critical social issue. The Indian Army has consistently been at the forefront of promoting health, education, and social awareness initiatives in Ukhral and neighbouring areas as part of its unwavering commitment to nation-building and community welfare.
