Doda: On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Indian Army organized a successful tree plantation drive in Humbal Village, Doda district, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and enhancing the green cover of the region.
The initiative was a collaborative effort, with 90 students, representatives from the Forest Department, Village Defence Guards (VDGs), Special Operations Groups (SOGs), the Ayush Directorate, and local villagers all actively participating in the event. A wide variety of saplings, including shady trees, fruit-bearing trees, and medicinal plants, were planted during the drive, symbolizing the commitment to ecological balance and a greener future for the region. The drive not only served as a practical step toward environmental preservation but also aimed to raise awareness about the importance of tree plantation and combating climate change.
The Indian Army’s ongoing engagement in such projects underscores its dedication to regional development and community empowerment. By involving local populations in such meaningful activities, the Indian Army is fostering a sense of environmental responsibility and contributing to the sustainable growth of the area. This drive further exemplifies the Army’s role in ensuring the welfare of local communities while promoting the preservation of natural resources.
