In a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, Genelia was asked if she felt bad about Salman Khan not approaching her for the Hindi remake.
Salman Khan and Asin’s Ready is considered to be one of the best and funniest projects in their filmographies. However, not many are aware that it is the remake of the Telugu film of the same name, starring Ram Pothineni and Genelia D’Souza. In a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, Genelia was asked if she felt bad about Salman Khan not approaching her for the Hindi remake.
Genelia said, “No, I would have loved to do it, because it was my film there, what I love to do. But maybe there’s another film in store for me with Salman Khan. You never know.” Her reaction has gone viral on social media. Watch it here:
Ready is a 2008 Telugu‑language action‑comedy directed by Srinu Vaitla, produced by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore, and written by Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan. It stars Ram Pothineni as Chandu and Genelia D’Souza as Pooja, alongside a strong ensemble cast featuring Nassar, Brahmanandam, Sunil, Kota Srinivasa Rao, and Jaya Prakash Reddy.
In the film, Chandu, a fun-loving engineering student from a joint family, helps his cousin elope. However, he mistakenly abducts Pooja instead of the actual bride. Pooja is an NRI fleeing an arranged marriage orchestrated by her warring uncles over her property. Welcomed into Chandu’s home under the guise of a spiritual disciple, a lighthearted romance blooms. Yet her fiendish uncles soon intervene, prompting Chandu to devise a quirky plan, impersonating American auditors to soften the uncles and win Pooja’s hand.
Ready was a surprise blockbuster—one of Telugu cinema’s top grossers of 2008. It became a cult family entertainer, lauded for its vibrant comedy, powerful lead pair, and engaging storyline. The film was later remade in Hindi with Salman Khan and Asin leading the project.
Salman Khan’s Ready, directed by Anees Bazmee and released on June 3, 2011, is a raucous masala rollercoaster that blended action, comedy, family drama, and chart‑topping tunes — and became one of the biggest non‑holiday Bollywood hits ever.
