Basu’s ‘Metro… In Dino’ impresses with heartfelt storytelling and strong performances, despite stiff box office competition from regional and global releases
Anurag Basu’s latest directorial Metro… In Dino has been having a steady run at the box office, raking up Rs 16.75 during opening weekend in India, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. As per reports, Metro… In Dino achieved in four days what its predecessor took seven weeks to collect. In India, Life in a… Metro grossedRs 15.63 crore, with worldwide collection amounting up to Rs 25 crore.
Metro… In Dino faces tough competition from regional releases like Sitaare Zameen Par, which managed to collect over Rs 6 crore on its 17th day. The romantic musical also spars with Hollywood action flicks Jurassic World: Rebirth and F1: The Movie.
“When good films are hard to find, both in theatres and even on OTT, Basu’s Metro… In Dino feels like a breath of fresh air. All actors deliver— maybe some better than others. Kapoor, Sharma, and particularly Tripathi stand out, and Khan is better here than in her other films… Metro… In Dino is a decent film with its heart in the right place, and a treatment that makes you fall in love, the old school kind, all over again.”
