Poonch: A swift Rescue Operation by Indian Army and JKPF in Loran saves lives amid sudden Flash Flood. At approximately 1800 hours on 09 July 2025, a sudden flash flood struck through a seasonal Nalla near Suman Mohalla, Bela Bala in Loran, posing an immediate threat to the local population and visiting tourists.
The alert was received at 1820 hours, prompting a swift and coordinated rescue operation launched by Loran Company of the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Police Force (JKPF). Despite the challenging conditions, timely and decisive actions were taken to mitigate the situation. Tragically, one local civilian lost his life in the incident. However, thanks to the prompt response of the rescue teams, approximately 20 stranded tourists and civilians were safely evacuated from the affected area.
The flash flood had rendered the road connecting Loran to Bela Bala impassable. With the assistance of a JCB, the route was quickly cleared to enable continued relief operations and mobility. The rescue team extended full support to the affected civilians, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. Relief efforts continued late into the night until the situation was fully stabilized. The operation highlighted the professionalism, readiness and humanitarian commitment of the Indian Army and JKPF personnel involved.
