Mumbai: Actor Shweta Tripathi is stepping into film production with her debut feature titled Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan, and joining her on this journey is acclaimed actress Tillotama Shome, known for her work in Paatal Lok.
As reported by Variety, the film will center around a queer love story, with Tripathi and Shome playing the lead roles. The project will be helmed by National Award-winning director Sanjoy Nag and is expected to begin filming by the end of 2025.
“This film is incredibly close to my heart—not only because it marks my first outing as a producer, but because of the story it tells,” Tripathi shared with Variety. “Queer love stories need to be portrayed with honesty, depth, and sensitivity. Having Tillotama on board makes this even more meaningful. She’s an actor I admire immensely, and we’ve both been eager to collaborate. I couldn’t think of a better project for us to begin with.”
Shome, a celebrated figure in Indian independent cinema, has starred in films such as Monsoon Wedding, Sir, Shadowbox, and A Death in the Gunj, along with series like Delhi Crime, The Night Manager, and Paatal Lok.
Director Sanjoy Nag, best known for his National Award-winning debut Memories in March—which premiered at the Busan International Film Festival—will bring his nuanced storytelling to the project. His other notable works include Yours Truly and Morning Sunshine.
