SRINAGAR: The Army on Wednesday paid homage to Bajaj, the first assault canine integrated with a camera surveillance system, who passed away on July 15 after a prolonged illness.

“Chinar Corps expresses heartfelt condolences on the demise of Assault Canine Dog ‘Bajaj’ after a prolonged illness. A vital member of our combat team, Bajaj stood as a symbol of loyalty, strength, and courage,” the Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said in a post on X.

Bajaj, the Indian Army’s first assault dog equipped with the K9 surveillance camera system, played a key role in several high-risk counter-terrorism operations in the Kashmir Valley. He often led missions from the front, helping protect the lives of soldiers.

In recognition of his exemplary service, Bajaj was awarded the COAS Commendation Card (August 2022), the GOC-in-C Commendation Card (January 2022), and the Chinar Medallion (2021).
“A true warrior who served the nation till his last breath. Rest in peace, Braveheart,” the Army added.
