NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday accused the government of targeting his brother-in-law Robert Vadra through a sustained political vendetta, following the Enforcement Directorate’s chargesheet against Vadra in a money laundering case related to alleged irregularities in a land deal in Shikohpur, Haryana.

Calling the move part of a decade-long campaign, Gandhi said, “My brother-in-law has been hounded by this government for the last ten years. This latest chargesheet is just another chapter in that witch-hunt.”

He expressed full support for Vadra, stating, “I stand with Robert, Priyanka, and their children as they endure yet another wave of malicious, politically motivated slander and harassment.”

Asserting confidence in their resilience, Gandhi added, “I know they have the strength to face any persecution and will continue to do so with dignity. The truth will ultimately triumph.”

The Enforcement Directorate had, on Thursday, filed a prosecution complaint naming the 56-year-old Vadra in the case. The agency also attached 43 immovable properties—spread across Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Gujarat—worth ₹37.64 crore, allegedly linked to Vadra and associated entities such as Sky Light Hospitality Pvt. Ltd.

In response, Vadra’s office issued a statement rejecting the charges as part of a continued political vendetta by the current government.
