Reliance Retail Acquires Kelvinator to Strengthen Presence in Premium Home Appliances Market
New Delhi: Reliance Retail on Friday announced the acquisition of iconic consumer durables brand Kelvinator, aiming to bolster its footprint in India’s fast-growing premium home appliances segment. The company did not disclose the financial details of the deal.
In a statement, Reliance Retail said the acquisition would significantly enhance its leadership in the consumer durables sector by adding a globally recognized brand to its portfolio.
“This marks a pivotal milestone for us,” said Isha M. Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd. “By acquiring Kelvinator, we can expand our range of trusted global innovations for Indian consumers, supported by our unmatched scale, robust service capabilities, and leading distribution network.”
Reliance Retail emphasized that integrating Kelvinator’s heritage of innovation with its extensive retail network will create substantial value for consumers and fuel growth in the premium appliances segment.
The company added that the synergy will make high-quality, globally benchmarked products more accessible to households across India, enriching everyday living.
Founded over a century ago, Kelvinator is known for pioneering electric refrigeration for homes. In India, it became a household name in the 1970s and 80s, famously associated with the tagline “The Coolest One.” The brand continues to be recognized for its cutting-edge technology, durability, and strong value proposition.
With Kelvinator now part of its ecosystem, Reliance Retail said it is well-positioned to drive category expansion, deepen consumer engagement, and tap into long-term growth opportunities in India’s evolving consumer durables market.
