Since Ladakh was granted Union Territory status in 2019, approximately 1,670 kilometres of roads have been newly constructed or blacktopped, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.

In a written response, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai stated that Ladakh is now better equipped with snow-clearance machinery to maintain road connectivity during heavy snowfall. Additionally, several helipads have been built to further enhance connectivity in the region.

Nityanand Rai noted that road infrastructure in Ladakh has seen substantial improvement since the reorganisation.
