MLAs Thank CM Omar Abdullah for Extending Power Amnesty Scheme, Raise Key Development Issues
SRINAGAR: Several Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) called on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar today, expressing appreciation for the recent extension of the power amnesty scheme to electricity consumers across Jammu and Kashmir.
The legislators—Ali Mohammad Dar (Chadoora), Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani (Beerwah), Saifuddin Bhat (Khan Sahib), and Javed Iqbal Choudhary (Budhal)—also discussed a range of public grievances and development needs concerning their constituencies.
They brought to the Chief Minister’s attention various constituency-specific matters, including the need for improved infrastructure, efficient delivery of public services, and effective implementation of welfare schemes. The MLAs called for prompt action to resolve these issues and ensure that benefits reach the public without delay.
The legislators further urged the Chief Minister to expedite the opening of tourist destinations such as Tosamaidan and Doodhpathri in Budgam district, highlighting their significance in sustaining local livelihoods.
In particular, the MLAs extended their gratitude to the Chief Minister for the timely extension of the power amnesty scheme, describing it as a vital relief measure for thousands of households struggling with overdue electricity bills, interest, and penalties.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah assured the visiting legislators of the government’s commitment to addressing public concerns. He emphasized the need for close coordination between the administration and elected representatives to ensure inclusive and sustainable development across the Union Territory.
