New Delhi: Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi’s cousin, Asif Qureshi, was tragically murdered in Delhi following a dispute over scooter parking, the Delhi Police confirmed on Friday.
As per the police statement, the incident took place on August 7 around 10:30 PM in the Bhogal area of Jangpura. Asif Qureshi, 42, son of Ilyas Qureshi and a resident of the locality, was fatally attacked during an argument with two individuals over the parking of their scooter.
During the altercation, one of the assailants stabbed Asif in the chest with a sharp, pointed object (believed to be a poker), leading to his death.
The police have registered an FIR (No. 233/25) under Sections 103(1)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused have been identified as Ujjwal (19) and Gautam (18), both of whom have been apprehended. Further investigation is ongoing.
In a separate incident, a 50-year-old woman was found murdered at her residence in Delhi’s Ranhola area on Wednesday. The police have identified her estranged husband, Parmod Jha (60), as the prime suspect.
The victim, Kiran Jha, worked as a caregiver for patients and lived with her daughter-in-law Kamal Jha, granddaughter, and son Durgesh Jha. A PCR call reporting the murder was received at approximately 4:09 AM.
Initial investigations revealed that Parmod Jha had returned to Delhi on August 1 after nearly a decade, having lived in his native village—Chidiabad in Jamalpur city, Munger district, Bihar. He had been separated from Kiran for the past ten years.
Durgesh, the couple’s son, is currently employed with a microfinance company in Darbhanga, Bihar. During questioning, Kamal informed police that Parmod had been out of touch with the family for years and was unemployed.
CCTV footage from a Delhi government surveillance camera reportedly shows Parmod leaving the premises around 12:50 AM, just hours before the murder came to light.
