SRINAGAR: Principal Secretary, Culture, Brij Mohan Sharma, and Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, jointly chaired a meeting to finalize the arrangements for a grand Tiranga rally, scheduled to be held on August 12. The rally will see the participation of over 10,000 people, marching along the Boulevard Road from SKICC to the Botanical Garden.

During the meeting, the Principal Secretary directed officials to set up theme-based selfie points at SKICC and the Botanical Garden, equipped with QR codes to allow participants to upload photos. He also called for the deployment of NCC volunteers to assist participants at these selfie stations.

In addition, the Commissioner of SMC was instructed to carry out theme-based color coating of tree and plant trunks along the rally route. The Principal Secretary also emphasized the need to install hoardings to raise awareness about the National Flag Code and encourage its respectful observance.

The Divisional Commissioner, meanwhile, reviewed the transport arrangements for participants and took stock of preparations for a Shikara Tiranga rally on Dal Lake. He called for the Shikaras to be decorated in tricolour to enhance the visual appeal of the event.

Arrangements for drinking water, electricity supply, and other logistics at the venue were also reviewed, with specific directions issued to the concerned departments. The Divisional Commissioner instructed for the setup of theme-based stalls and exhibitions at SKICC.

Preparations for cultural performances, BSF band displays, and felicitation ceremonies for VVIPs and war heroes were also discussed. Additionally, instructions were given for the establishment of first aid camps and deployment of ambulances to address any medical emergencies.

The event manager was tasked with ensuring comprehensive arrangements, including waterproof tentage, seating, stage setup, and LED screen installation.

The meeting was attended by the Director of Floriculture, Commissioner SMC, Secretary AACL, ADC Srinagar, and officers from LCMA, SRTC, Handloom & Handicrafts, PHE, KPDCL, R&B, Police, CRPF, BSF, Army, and the District Sainik Welfare Office.
