BGSBU holds valedictory ceremony for pre-event series under Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme

RAJOURI: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri, hosted a valedictory function to mark the conclusion of the pre-event series organised under the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme. The event celebrated vibrant student participation and reaffirmed the university’s dedication to youth-led nation-building.

Principal District & Sessions Judge Rajouri, Rajinder Sapru, attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the crucial role of youth in national development and warned against the dangers of substance abuse. He urged students to be torchbearers in building a progressive, drug-free India. “No nation can advance without the informed and active involvement of its youth,” he remarked, stressing the need to remain connected to history to shape a better future.

BGSBU Registrar Abhishek Sharma commended the organising team and underscored the importance of the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision. He encouraged students to cultivate scientific thinking and contribute meaningfully to society. On the occasion, he also led the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge, promoting a commitment to a substance-free lifestyle.

Dr Parwez Alam, Coordinator of the programme, delivered the welcome address and gave an overview of the various initiatives conducted as part of the series. He was later felicitated for his outstanding contributions in his role as HoD, Department of Psychiatry, GMC Rajouri.

Student speakers added depth to the event with insightful presentations:

  • Mohd Zubair (Department of Islamic Studies) spoke on the 1975 Emergency Period in India.
  • Tanveer (B.Tech ITE) elaborated on key aspects of Viksit Bharat 2047.
  • Areeba (B.Tech CSE) discussed the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.

Students who actively participated in the pre-event activities were recognised for their enthusiasm and contributions.

Dr Tanveer Ahmed conducted the proceedings, and Vishal Pahari delivered the vote of thanks. The event saw participation from Programme Nodal Officer Suneet Gupta, the Controller of Examinations, Associate Deans, Department Heads, faculty, and students from across the university
