Peshawar: Security forces have killed at least 47 terrorists in Balochistan near the Afghanistan border over the past two days, the Pakistan military’s media wing reported on Saturday.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a sanitisation operation in Sambaza, Zhob district, resulted in the elimination of 33 terrorists during the night of August 7-8.
In a separate operation near Sambaza along the Afghanistan border on the night of August 8-9, security forces neutralised an additional 14 terrorists, the ISPR added.
Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the militants, the statement said.
Pakistan has experienced a surge in terrorist attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) decision to end its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.
