Jammu: Former Jammu and Kashmir DGP SP Vaid stated that during Operation Sindoor, the Indian Armed Forces executed precise strikes targeting terror infrastructure and subsequently destroyed key airfields, command, and control centers. These actions effectively brought Pakistan to its knees. He affirmed that halting the military operation was the right decision since India had successfully achieved its objectives.
When asked about Air Chief Marshal AP Singh’s statement that the Indian Armed Forces destroyed at least five Pakistani fighter jets and one large aircraft during the operation, Vaid praised the achievement as significant.
“Indian Armed Forces, especially the Indian Air Force, carried out precision strikes. It is a remarkable feat that India managed to bring Pakistan to its knees within just a few hours,” he remarked.
Addressing an event at HAL, IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh detailed the extent of damage inflicted on Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.
“We confirmed the destruction of at least five fighter jets and one large aircraft, which was likely either an ELINT or AEW&C aircraft. This engagement, at a distance of around 300 kilometers, is the largest ever recorded surface-to-air kill,” said Air Chief Marshal Singh.
He further added, “We successfully targeted at least two command and control centers, including Murid and Chaklala, as well as six radar installations of varying sizes. Additionally, we struck two SAGW systems located in Lahore and Okara. Three hangars were attacked — the Sukkur UAV hangar, the Bholari hangar, and the Jacobabad F-16 hangar. We have indications that the AEW&C hangar housed at least one AEW&C aircraft along with several F-16s undergoing maintenance.”
Operation Sindoor was launched by India on May 7 as a decisive military response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed 26 lives.
The Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of over 100 terrorists. In response to further Pakistani escalation, India struck multiple Pakistani airbases.
The Air Chief also credited the “political will” of the central government for enabling the success of Operation Sindoor, which allowed the Indian Armed Forces full operational freedom.
“A key factor in our success was clear political will and direction. No restrictions were imposed on us. Any constraints were self-imposed by the forces themselves. We determined the rules of engagement and how to control escalation, with complete freedom to plan and execute,” Air Chief Marshal AP Singh concluded.
