Addresses PTMs at GHSS D K Marg and K B Pora

KULGAM: Minister for Education, Sakeena Itoo, today inaugurated the newly constructed Science Block at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), D K Marg. She also participated in the Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) at the school.

The event was attended by Director School Education Kashmir, CEO Kulgam, Principal GHSS D K Marg, SDM DH Pora, senior district administration officers, faculty members, and students.

Speaking at the Cluster PTM, the Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to providing quality education for all. She highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure throughout the region by building and upgrading school facilities to create modern, well-equipped learning environments.

The Minister further praised the abundant talent among students and assured that special attention is being given to the education and health sectors to ensure inclusive development. She stressed the importance of offering students, including those from remote areas, platforms to showcase their abilities.

She also pointed out that schools will be equipped with essential amenities such as washrooms, fencing, and other basic facilities to foster a better learning environment.

Highlighting the tourism potential of DH Pora and surrounding areas like Aharbal, Kongwattan, Kounsarnag, and Panchan Pathri — known for their natural beauty, biodiversity, and trekking routes — the Minister said these sites will be developed to boost tourism. Local youth will receive training in tourism-related skills to enhance self-employment opportunities and contribute to the economic growth of these regions.

On the occasion, the Minister felicitated a NEET achiever and an athlete from the institution.

Later, the Minister visited GHSS K.B. Pora and took part in a PTM there.

Addressing the gathering, she said the Omar Abdullah-led government is committed to the holistic development of Jammu and Kashmir. She reiterated that education and health remain top priorities, with ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and increase staffing in schools and hospitals for the benefit of the public.

During the event, the Minister also distributed aids and appliances to Children with Special Needs (CWSN).
