New Delhi: Operation Sindoor stands as a strong example of tri-services synergy, and sustained reforms, coordination, and adaptability are vital to address evolving security challenges, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Anil Chauhan has said.

Speaking at the College of Defence Management in Secunderabad, Gen Chauhan, without going into specifics, outlined a roadmap for theatre commands aimed at boosting joint capability.

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen joint logistics and integration, he released the Joint Primer for Integrated Logistics, which the defence ministry described on Sunday as a significant step towards modernising logistics systems to ensure the armed forces remain fully equipped and prepared for any challenge. The document focuses on logistics integration, digitisation, common provisioning and procurement, and alignment with the national logistics framework. Its objective is to enhance tri-services logistics coordination, improve efficiency, and ensure greater organisational effectiveness.

Gen Chauhan also underlined the military’s pursuit of transformative changes to meet the demands of technology-driven modern warfare, sharing strategic perspectives on jointness and integration, and highlighting key priorities for shaping the future of integrated operations.

His remarks come as the government advances its theaterisation plan, which seeks to integrate the Army, Navy, and Air Force into unified theatre commands. Under this model, each command will comprise units from all three services, working as a single entity to address security challenges in specific geographic regions—replacing the current structure of separate service commands.

The CDS emphasised comprehensive capability development, self-reliance, and a deep understanding of ongoing reforms, including organisational restructuring and the strengthening of national security committees that are central to decision-making. He reiterated the importance of sustained reforms and adaptability to meet the nation’s dynamic security needs.
