Jammu: Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Northern Command, highlighted emerging opportunities for startups in AI-driven logistics, battlefield transparency, space and satellite technologies, and high-altitude mobility platforms during an event on Monday.
The function, titled “Ek Shaam Shaurya aur Prakaram Ke Naam,” was organized by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu at its Jagti campus.
As part of IIM Jammu’s pioneering initiatives, the event focused on nurturing future business leaders grounded in strong nationalistic values.
In his keynote on the ‘Strategic Implications of Operation Sindoor: Impact on the Economic Landscape of India and Building a Self-reliant Defence Sector,’ Lt Gen Sharma stressed that the operation’s importance goes well beyond the battlefield.
He explained how it influences national economic policies, strengthens strategic signaling, and highlights the critical need for homegrown defence innovation.
He identified promising areas for startups, including AI-enabled logistics, autonomous systems, battlefield transparency tools, space and satellite tech, and platforms designed for high-altitude mobility.
Emphasizing the vital role of collaboration between industry, academia, and defence, he expressed his commitment to engaging with students and supporting their growth across various fields for the nation’s benefit.
The lieutenant general also proposed cross-training programs aimed at enhancing the skills and competitive edge of both civilian and defence personnel.
His inspiring address and distinguished service earned him a standing ovation from students, faculty, and staff.
The event concluded with a lively Q&A session and a felicitation ceremony, creating an atmosphere of inspiration that blended military excellence, strategic vision, and entrepreneurial spirit, according to an IIM spokesperson.
