LG Congratulates People of J&K for Making Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025 a Remarkable Spiritual Success

SRINAGAR,: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today felicitated officers of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Administration, J&K Police, Army, CAPFs, BRO, medical professionals, NGOs, and other stakeholders for the successful conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025.

At a ceremony held at Raj Bhawan Auditorium, the LG congratulated the people of Jammu & Kashmir for transforming the holy pilgrimage into a deeply spiritual experience for over 4.14 lakh devotees from across India and the world.

“The enthusiasm and devotion of the pilgrims, along with the smooth and successful Yatra, stand as a strong rebuttal to the enemies’ designs to destabilize peace in the Union Territory,” said LG Sinha.

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to all involved—including civil society groups, Swachhagrahis, sanitation workers, volunteers, ponywalas, pithuwalas, Disaster Response Forces, security personnel, and the media—for their collective efforts ensuring a safe and seamless pilgrimage.

The LG also commended the intelligence agencies and officials who worked tirelessly to safeguard the pilgrims, highlighting their team spirit and dedication that made this Yatra safe, hassle-free, and spiritually enriching—an event that will be remembered for years.

Describing the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra as a unique confluence of humanity and faith, the LG said, “Every pilgrim has now become an ambassador for Jammu & Kashmir.”

He urged officials to review this year’s experiences and prioritize improvements for an even better pilgrimage in the future, while thanking the Government of India for its unwavering support and guidance.

The LG also paid homage to innocent civilians killed by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in Pahalgam, reaffirming commitment to peace and security.

Comprehensive Arrangements and Safety Measures

This year’s Yatra saw extensive arrangements on both tracks. Health and medical support were robust, with two 100-bed hospitals at base camps and a dedicated team of 1,222 medical professionals providing round-the-clock care. Over 90 medical facilities along the route offered 560 beds, supplemented by 26 oxygen booths and a fleet of 45 ambulances—including nine critical-care vehicles.

Groundbreaking safety initiatives included emergency communication systems at seven key points, which resolved nearly 100 distress calls. Real-time health screening contributed to a 9% reduction in natural deaths compared to previous years.

A prepaid system for services such as palanquins and ponies was successfully implemented, benefiting 1.84 lakh pilgrims and ensuring transparency and grievance redressal.

Environmental protection efforts were enhanced through a zero-landfill initiative by the Shrine Board and Rural Sanitation Department, featuring 7,000 toilets and the involvement of 6,500 Swachhagrahis maintaining cleanliness throughout the pilgrimage.

Significant infrastructure upgrades from 2022 to 2024 included widening Baltal and Chandanwari routes to 12 feet, installing safety railings, and introducing disciplined track inspection and maintenance for the first time.

An RFID-based tracking system was introduced for all registered pilgrims and service providers to enable real-time route monitoring and prevent unauthorized access.

Continuous 24×7 monitoring of the Yatra route was maintained via live feed systems, supported by newly installed PTZ, static, and head-count cameras, and RFID readers.

Reliable electricity and uninterrupted telecommunication were ensured through grid power supply, underground optical fiber cables, and a wireless intranet network along the tracks and at the holy cave.

The Shrine Board also inaugurated new Yatri Niwas facilities at Pantha Chowk, Srinagar, and Baltal, Ganderbal, to enhance pilgrim accommodation.

Attendance

The felicitation ceremony was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Atal Dulloo, DGP Shri Nalin Prabhat, Lt Gen Prashant Srivastava (GOC 15 Corps), Dr. Mandeep K Bhandari (CEO, Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board), senior officers from civil and police administration, CAPFs, Army, and the Shrine Board.
