Mumbai: After watching the trailer of Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, Kiara Advani couldn’t help but shower praise on the film’s team.
Taking to Instagram, Kiara gave a special shout-out to the Param Sundari cast, affectionately calling her husband Sidharth a “charmer” and Janhvi Kapoor a “cutie.”
She posted, “Colourful, fun, masti overload!! Param you charmer, Sundari you cutie… Can’t wait for 29 August.”
Directed by Tushar Jalota, Param Sundari marks the first collaboration between Sidharth and Janhvi as co-stars. The trailer showcases their captivating romantic chemistry. The story follows the lively chaos that unfolds when Sidharth’s character, a Punjabi boy from Delhi, falls for Janhvi’s character, a girl from Kerala.
Reflecting on the film, Sidharth shared, “With Param Sundari, I feel like I’m revisiting the kind of romance I grew up loving, but told in a fresh and relatable way. Param has that Delhi boy charm, and the love story bridges two very different worlds. We wanted it to look as beautiful as it feels, and Kerala’s magic truly helped bring that to life. I hope the audience experiences the same warmth and joy we did while making it.”
Janhvi spoke about playing ‘Sundari’ and how the character’s strong connection to her roots resonated with her own South Indian heritage.
“Sundari is very personal to me. Her grace, quiet strength, and love for her culture reflect my own South Indian background. Filming in Kerala, surrounded by such stunning beauty, made me feel emotionally connected to her world — something I hope the audience will feel as well,” she said.
Manjot Singh also plays a key role in the film. His camaraderie with Sidharth in the trailer has reminded fans of their earlier collaboration in Student of the Year (SOTY), which was Sidharth’s debut and also starred Manjot.
The trailer includes humorous nods to Bollywood legends Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) and Rajinikanth. In one memorable scene, Janhvi calls out Sidharth and Manjot as “Madrasis,” before playfully educating them on the rich diversity of South Indian cinema by impersonating icons like Rajinikanth (Tamil Nadu), Mohanlal (Kerala), Allu Arjun (Andhra Pradesh), and Yash (Karnataka).
Sidharth delivers SRK’s famous dialogue, “Har Kar Jeetne Wale Ko Baazigar Kehte Hai,” with his signature charm.
The trailer also evokes nostalgia for many fans, reminding them of the SRK-Deepika Padukone hit Chennai Express. Some have even dubbed Param Sundari as Chennai Express 2.0 due to its exploration of North-South cultural contrasts.
Director Tushar Jalota describes the film as “a celebration of differences — the way two distinct worlds can collide and still create something beautiful.” He added, “Kerala provided a timeless visual canvas, and the story gave us the emotional depth to match. The trailer is just a glimpse of the journey ahead.”
Whether Param Sundari will capture the hearts of audiences remains to be seen. Meanwhile, fans can enjoy the soulful song Pardesiya from the film, composed by Dinesh Vijan and produced by Maddock Films.
