Mumbai: Yash Raj Films’ War 2 is gearing up for a high-voltage box office clash with Rajinikanth’s Coolie over the Independence Day weekend.
Ahead of the much-anticipated showdown, Hrithik Roshan sent heartfelt wishes to the legendary superstar, congratulating him on completing an illustrious 50 years in cinema.
“Took my first steps as an actor at your side. You were one of my first teachers, @rajinikanth sir, and continue to be an inspiration and a standard. Congratulations on completing 50 years of on-screen magic!” Hrithik posted on X, recalling his early days as a child actor alongside Rajinikanth in Bhagwaan Dada (1986).
The warm gesture quickly won over fans, who praised Hrithik for his respect and admiration.
Both War 2 and Coolie will hit theatres on August 14. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie presents Rajinikanth in a striking new avatar, with Nagarjuna as the antagonist and Aamir Khan making a cameo appearance. The film reunites Aamir and Rajinikanth after their 1995 collaboration Aatank Hi Aatank. Its trailer teases intense action, powerful dialogues, and the grand entry of Aamir Khan as Dahaa.
Meanwhile, War 2, helmed by Ayan Mukerji, sees Hrithik return as the fearless, “nameless, faceless shadow,” facing off against Jr NTR, who takes on impossible battles for the nation. Kiara Advani also joins the cast. The sequel follows the blockbuster success of the 2019 original starring Hrithik, Tiger Shroff, and Vaani Kapoor.
