Jammu: Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Wednesday credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for leveraging technology in the defence sector and safeguarding the nation, saying Operation Sindoor offered a successful opportunity to deploy these advancements.
Recalling the time when Modi personally risked his life to hoist the national flag at Srinagar’s Lal Chowk, Singh noted that today, every hand in the valley proudly holds the tricolour.
Responding to questions on Pakistan’s repeated threats, he said, “There is not much need for me to comment on this as the Ministry of External Affairs will take cognisance of it.”
Leading a Tiranga rally in Kathua district, Singh described Operation Sindoor as India’s response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. He attributed the operation’s success to the technology adopted over the past decade, which began after Modi assumed office under the vision of an indigenous and self-reliant India.
Singh highlighted that Tiranga rallies, now in their fourth year, reflect Modi’s vision and create a festive atmosphere nationwide ahead of Independence Day. Similar rallies were also held in Srinagar on Tuesday.
Drawing a contrast with the past, he said, “There was a time when hoisting the national flag required massive campaigns and immense struggle. Prime Minister Modi himself risked his life to unfurl the tricolour at Lal Chowk, an event that drew nationwide attention.”
He recalled that Modi had undertaken the Ekta Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir in 1991 despite terror threats, culminating in hoisting the flag at Lal Chowk.T
