Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday urged the people of Jammu and Kashmir to pledge to thwart terrorist activities and dismantle the entire ecosystem of terrorism to make the Union Territory free from terror.

He emphasized that India has drawn a new red line, declaring that any act of terror will be treated as an act of war, and perpetrators will face a strong response.

In his Independence Day greetings to the people of J-K on the eve of the 79th Independence Day, Sinha expressed gratitude to the armed forces, CAPFs, and J-K Police for their unwavering vigilance and protection of citizens under challenging conditions, which has helped usher in peace and enabled progress, prosperity, and inclusive development.

“I also commend our armed forces, brave soldiers, security and intelligence agencies, and every personnel involved in ‘Operation Sindoor’ for their courage and commitment in avenging the Pahalgam terror attack,” he said.

The LG added that Independence Day is an occasion to honor the valiant soldiers of the Army, CRPF, and J-K Police for the success of ‘Operation Mahadev’ and extend good wishes for their dedication to the nation.

“India has drawn a new red line. Any act of terror will be considered an act of war, and we will give the enemy a befitting response. On this day, let us also pledge to foil terrorist efforts and dismantle the entire ecosystem of terrorism to make Jammu and Kashmir terror-free,” he said.

Paying homage to freedom fighters and the nation’s founding fathers, Sinha also remembered martyrs. “Their sacrifices will forever live in our hearts and continue to inspire us. I pay tribute to civilian martyrs brutally killed by Pakistan-backed terrorists in Pahalgam on April 22,” he added.

Referring to the Kishtwar cloudburst, Sinha expressed sympathy for the affected families. “I am deeply saddened by this natural calamity and extend my condolences to the bereaved families. We are working with a whole-of-government approach to manage the situation and provide all necessary assistance to those affected,” he said.
