New Delhi,: From the Red Fort on India’s 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued a firm warning to Pakistan, stating that India will make no distinction between terrorists and those who support them. He added that the armed forces will determine the appropriate response to any future misadventures from the neighboring country.

Praising the armed forces for Operation Sindoor, Modi said it inflicted a severe blow on Pakistan, with fresh details of the damage emerging daily. He emphasized that India will no longer tolerate Pakistan’s nuclear blackmail and has established a “new normal” in handling cross-border terrorism.

Recalling the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, the prime minister said the incident shocked India and the world, and Operation Sindoor was a reflection of that outrage. Speaking in Hindi, he said, “I am proud to salute our heroes of Operation Sindoor from the ramparts of the Red Fort. Our brave soldiers punished the enemy beyond its imagination.”

Modi added that the armed forces were given a free hand in the operation, deciding strategy, targets, and timing. “What the Indian armed forces achieved during Operation Sindoor has not been seen in decades,” he said, describing how troops entered hundreds of kilometers into enemy territory, destroying terrorist infrastructure.

The prime minister highlighted India’s policy of self-reliance in defense as a key factor behind the success of the operation. He also defended the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, calling it “one-sided and unjust.” “Now, blood and water will not flow together,” he said, noting that for decades, rivers from India had irrigated enemy lands while Indian farmers faced shortages.

Through his address, Modi reiterated India’s firm stance on cross-border terrorism and reaffirmed that the nation will respond decisively to any threats, setting a new precedent in handling relations with Pakistan.
