Landslide blocks Larnoo–Murgon Top Road; all stranded passengers evacuated safely

Srinagar, Aug 15: A landslide hit the Larnoo–Murgon Top area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district late last night, stranding nearly 30 vehicles, officials said.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team from Anantnag, with support from local police and civil administration, launched a prompt rescue operation. All passengers and drivers were safely evacuated, with no casualties or property damage reported.

The overnight operation, carried out in difficult conditions, concluded successfully by morning.

Meanwhile, cloudbursts and flash floods were reported on Friday in several Kashmir districts, including Ganderbal, Anantnag, and Kupwara. Authorities confirmed there were no fatalities or injuries.

With adverse weather warnings in place, district administrations have set up dedicated emergency helplines to ensure quick assistance and effective response to any weather-related emergencies.
