SRINAGAR: On the 79th Independence Day, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha hoisted and saluted the National Flag at Raj Bhavan, Srinagar, extending heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all.

Paying rich tributes to freedom fighters and the brave personnel of the Police, Army, and CAPFs, the LG also remembered citizens who lost their lives in the tragic Chashoti, Kishtwar cloudburst.

“On this Independence Day, let us pledge that no individual or village is left behind in our journey of peace and progress. As the Tricolour soars high, may we look ahead with pride, confidence, and hope towards a brighter future for Jammu & Kashmir,” he said.

In a post on X, the LG shared his thoughts:

  • He expressed pride in hoisting the National Flag and saluting the Tricolour.
  • He honoured the sacrifice of freedom fighters whose devotion secured India’s independence.
  • He paid homage to the civilian martyrs killed in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, and lauded the armed forces, security agencies, and J&K Police for their valour in ‘Operation Sindoor’ and ‘Operation Mahadev’.
  • He conveyed deep condolences to families affected by the Kishtwar cloudburst, affirming that relief efforts are underway on a war footing.

Calling for the complete eradication of terrorism, the LG stressed that the combined efforts of security forces and society’s resolve will ensure a terror-free Jammu & Kashmir. He urged citizens to work towards making the UT strong, self-reliant, and prosperous—empowering farmers, youth, women, and the working class, and strengthening the rural economy.

“Let us rededicate ourselves to equality, prosperity, and peace. As we watch the Tricolour fly high, let us move forward together with pride and determination towards a better future,” he said.
