Mumbai: Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2 marked its first anniversary on Friday, a year after its August 15 release that turned into a major box-office success.
Celebrating the milestone, Rajkummar took to Instagram to share a nostalgic note.
“This day, last year, the lights dimmed, the screen lit up… and history was created. One year of the most loved Hindi film, #Stree2,” he wrote, thanking fans for their unwavering love and support.
Adding a playful tease for the next chapter, he quipped, “Bahut jaldi milenge Stree 3 ke sath. Bickyyyyy Pleajjjjjj.”
The post also featured a video montage of his most memorable moments from the film.
The sequel once again transported audiences to the haunted lanes of Chanderi, where Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and his friends—Bittu (Aparshakti Khurana), Jana (Abhishek Banerjee), Rudra (Pankaj Tripathi), and the enigmatic Shraddha Kapoor—face off against a new terror: the headless villain “Sarkata.” Stree 2 is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video India.
To mark the occasion, the makers also announced an update from the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe. On Independence Day, they revealed that the first look of Thama will drop on August 19.
“The No. 1 Hindi film Stree 2 turns 1 today. To celebrate, Dinesh Vijan expands the Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe with #THAMA. The World of Thama unveils Tuesday, Aug 19—your first glimpse at the sarvashaktishaali villain set to redefine fear,” read their announcement.
The teaser video blended scenes from Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya, before hinting at a chilling “bloody love story.”
“Brace yourself—this chapter is a love story, wilder and deadlier than anything you’ve seen before,” the makers promised.
Thama, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is slated for a Diwali 2025 release.
