Jammu: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has cancelled her planned visit to the cloudburst-hit Chisoti village in Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, citing the ongoing rescue and relief operations, a party spokesperson said.
Mufti was scheduled to visit the village in the Padder sub-division on Sunday.
The spokesperson noted that local residents had expressed strong concerns that VIP visits were disrupting rescue efforts, diverting the administration’s focus and resources.
“Respecting these concerns, Mufti emphasized that the immediate priority should be providing relief to affected villagers and stranded pilgrims, while ensuring all possible efforts are made to trace the missing persons,” the spokesperson said.
He added that the former Chief Minister expressed solidarity with the victims’ families and assured that the PDP stands with them during this time of grief.
