New Delhi: India’s electronics exports recorded a remarkable growth of over 47% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025-26, compared to the same period in 2024-25, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said in a post on X. Exports during the quarter reached USD 12.4 billion.
“Our electronics exports have surged over 47% in Q1 of 2025-26 compared to the same quarter last year. This is a remarkable success story for ‘Make in India,’ which has driven electronics production from USD 31 billion to USD 133 billion over the decade starting 2014-15,” the minister wrote.
Highlighting government initiatives, he noted that India has moved from just two mobile manufacturing units in 2014 to more than 300 today, reflecting efforts to make the country self-reliant in manufacturing.
“One of the most significant transformations has been our journey from a mobile importer to the world’s second-largest mobile phone manufacturer. The electronics sector has also created extensive employment opportunities, with products like solar modules, networking devices, charger adapters, and electronic components playing a key role in boosting exports,” the post said.
Electronics goods exports jumped from ₹38,000 crore in 2014-15 to ₹3.27 lakh crore in 2024-25—an eightfold increase. In 2014-15, only 26% of mobile phones sold in India were domestically manufactured; the remainder were imported. Today, 99.2% of mobile phones sold in India are made domestically, with the manufacturing value rising from ₹18,900 crore in FY14 to ₹4,22,000 crore in FY24, Goyal added.
