Gurugram: Unidentified men opened fire outside YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT winner Elvish Yadav’s residence in Sector 57 on Sunday morning, police said.
According to Gurugram Police, more than a dozen rounds were fired, but Yadav was not at home at the time.
“Three masked assailants opened fire outside Elvish Yadav’s residence around 5:30 AM. Over a dozen rounds were discharged, but the actor was not present,” said Sandeep Kumar, PRO of Gurugram Police.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had granted an interim stay on legal proceedings against Yadav in connection with a rave party case, where snake venom and other illegal drugs were allegedly supplied and consumed.
A bench comprising Justices M. M. Sundresh and Joymalya Bagchi issued notices to the respondents, including the Uttar Pradesh government and complainant Gaurav Gupta, seeking their response to Yadav’s plea.
Yadav had approached the top court seeking the quashing of the chargesheet filed against him and the summons issued in the case. In May, the Allahabad High Court had dismissed his plea, stating that the allegations required detailed legal scrutiny as multiple FIRs had been registered.
The Supreme Court’s interim order stays all legal proceedings against Yadav and directs respondents to respond to the petition.
For context, Elvish Yadav has been chargesheeted under Sections 9, 39, 48A, 49, 50, and 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act, Sections 284, 289, and 120B of the IPC, and Sections 8, 22, 29, 30, and 32 of the NDPS Act in an FIR registered at Sector-49 Police Station, Noida, District Gautam Buddh Nagar.
A summons has also been issued by the First Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Gautam Buddh Nagar.
Yadav challenged the chargesheet and proceedings, arguing that the informant was not competent to file an FIR under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and that no snakes, narcotics, or psychotropic substances were recovered from him.
