Babar, Rizwan Left Out of Pakistan Squad for Asia Cup and UAE Tri-Series

Lahore: Pakistan selectors on Sunday announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming tri-series in the UAE and the Asia Cup, leaving out senior batters Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed the squad on its website, which includes experienced pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Wasim Jr., and left-arm seamer Salman Mirza.

Ahead of the Asia Cup, scheduled in the UAE from September 9–28 in the T20 format, the Salman Ali Agha-led side will first feature in a tri-series against Afghanistan and hosts UAE in Sharjah from August 29 to September 7.

In the Asia Cup, Pakistan are drawn in Group A alongside arch-rivals India, the UAE, and Oman.

Pakistan squad: Salman Ali Agha (c), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sufyan Moqim.
