SRINAGAR: Amid continuous rainfall across the valley, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, M. Raju, today conducted an in-depth review of the functioning of essential services, including electricity, drinking water supply, and road connectivity.

The meeting was attended by SMC Commissioner Fazlul Haseeb, Director of the Indian Meteorological Department Srinagar, Additional Commissioners of Kashmir, senior officials from KPDCL and PHE, along with representatives from other departments.

During the deliberations, M. Raju assessed the water levels of the Jhelum River and its tributaries to gauge potential flood risks. It was noted that essential services are largely operating smoothly, with minor disruptions reported in some 11kV electricity lines, where restoration work is ongoing.

The Divisional Commissioner directed all departments to provide detailed updates on the status of essential services by the evening. He emphasized the need for strong interdepartmental coordination, continuous monitoring, and readiness to respond swiftly to any emergencies to minimize impact.

SMC Commissioner Fazlul Haseeb also briefed the meeting on ongoing dewatering operations across Srinagar, highlighting the deployment of pumps to prevent waterlogging in roads and low-lying areas of the city.
