KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, today inspected the Katli Road on the Dayala Chack–Billawar stretch to assess damages caused by recent flash floods. He directed PWD authorities to undertake temporary restoration of the road at the earliest and prepare a comprehensive plan for permanent repair of the affected assets.
The DC also visited Sanyal Bridge, where a section of the approach road has collapsed due to the floods. He instructed the contractor to immediately install safety crates to protect the bridge and stabilize the approach road.
Later, at the Tehsil Office Dinga Amb, the Deputy Commissioner chaired a meeting of officers to review the overall situation. He directed the CPO to prepare a detailed SDRF proposal for temporary restoration works, while instructing the PHE and PDD departments to submit reports on damages to public infrastructure caused by the recent rains.
During the visit, a deputation from Pacca Kotha met the DC to highlight local damages. He instructed the concerned ADC to inspect the area and assess losses for necessary action.
The inspections follow torrential rains that triggered flash floods, cloudbursts, and overflow of major tributaries and nallahs, causing damage to roads, bridges, and other public infrastructure across the district.
ADC Vishavjeet Singh, SDM Hirangar Phulail Singh, ACD Akhil Sadotra, CPO Ranjit Thakur, and other district officials accompanied the DC during the visits.
