Chandigarh: Punjab Police have recovered a hand grenade following the recent arrest of operatives of the banned terror group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), officials said on Tuesday.

“Acting swiftly on forward and backward linkages, Counter Intelligence Jalandhar recovered an 86P hand grenade after the arrest of two BKI operatives—Ritik Naroliya and a juvenile from Rajasthan—a few days ago,” Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said in a post on X.

He added that the arrested individuals’ disclosures led to the capture of their associates, Vishavjit from Kolkata, who was attempting to flee to Malaysia, and Jackson from Nakodar, which subsequently led to the recovery of the grenade.

“All the accused were operating under instructions from Canada-based BKI masterminds Zeeshan Akhtar and Ajay Gill,” the DGP said.

According to him, “Vishavjit and Jackson retrieved two hand grenades from Beas through their associates in the last week of July. One of these grenades was detonated at a liquor shop in SBS Nagar by other members of the module about ten days ago.”

An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell in Amritsar, he added.

The DGP reaffirmed that Punjab Police remain committed to dismantling terror networks, curbing organized crime, and ensuring peace and public safety across the state.
