NEW DELHI: Reliance Infrastructure Ltd on Tuesday announced that it has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from state-run NHPC for developing a 390 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power project along with a 780 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS).
Once operational, the project will add 700 MWp of solar DC capacity and 780 MWh of BESS to the Reliance Group’s clean energy portfolio, further strengthening its position in new energy solutions, the company said.
The project was awarded at a tariff of ₹3.13 per unit, making it one of the most competitively priced bids in India’s energy transition space.
Reliance Power, another group entity, already operates nearly 2.5 GWp of solar and 2.5 GWh of BESS. With the new win, the Reliance Group’s renewable pipeline rises to over 3 GWp of solar DC and 3.5 GWh of BESS, making it the largest integrated Solar + BESS player in India.
The project is part of NHPC’s 1,200 MW solar + 600 MW/2,400 MWh BESS ISTS tender, which attracted strong interest from the industry—oversubscribed nearly four times with 15 participants, 14 of whom qualified for the e-reverse auction.
Reliance Infrastructure, one of India’s leading infrastructure firms, develops projects across power, roads, metro rail and defence through Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs). Its portfolio includes landmark projects such as the Mumbai Metro (BOOT model) and multiple road projects (BOT model).
