SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today met the Mascot of the Khelo India Water Sports Festival 2025.
The Lieutenant Governor extended his best wishes to the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the J&K Sports Council, and all participating athletes and officials for the three-day festival, scheduled from August 21 to 23 at the iconic Dal Lake in Srinagar.
The festival is designed to celebrate the rich culture and ecology of Jammu and Kashmir. The event’s Mascot, inspired by the Himalayan Kingfisher, symbolizes adventure, energy, and a deep connection with nature.
Over 800 athletes and officials from 28 states and union territories are expected to compete in rowing, canoeing, and kayaking events. The festival will also feature demonstration activities, including water skiing, dragon boat races, and shikara races.
The event at Raj Bhawan was attended by Shri Sarmad Hafeez, Commissioner Secretary of Social Welfare; Ms. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary of J&K Sports Council; Ms. Mamta Shree Ojha, Director of Khelo India Games, SAI; along with other officials from the Sports Authority of India and J&K Sports Council.
