iOS 26 Beta Introduces AI-Powered Adaptive Battery Feature for iPhones

Apple’s AI-driven battery tool is getting an upgrade with the latest iOS 26 beta, now available for select iPhone models. First previewed at WWDC 2025, Adaptive Power was initially introduced in the early iOS 26 beta builds. With the public beta release, users can now experience the feature in full.

As the name implies, Adaptive Power helps you get more from your iPhone battery, reducing the need to scramble for a charger before the day ends. While details about the feature were shared earlier, most users had not been able to test it—until now with the iOS 26 public beta.

What Adaptive Power Offers

Adaptive Power appears in the battery settings for iPhones that support AI features, including the iPhone 15 Pro and newer models. Apple says the tool can make “small performance adjustments” to extend battery life.

These adjustments include:

Reducing display brightness to conserve energy.

Delaying certain background activities to reduce battery drain.

Apple hasn’t fully explained why AI is required for this feature, but it’s likely that the system uses intelligent algorithms to analyze and optimize battery usage more effectively than standard software tweaks.

How to Enable Adaptive Power

The feature is disabled by default. To activate it:

Install the latest iOS 26 beta update.

Open Settings on your iPhone 15 Pro or later.

Tap Battery.

Scroll to Power Mode and select it.

Enable Adaptive Power and Power Notifications.

Once your iPhone’s battery drops to 20%, Low Power Mode will activate automatically. In this mode, background activities are reduced, processing speed slows slightly, and features like 5G and iCloud syncing are adjusted to preserve battery.

With these iOS 26 beta updates rolling out quickly, Apple is set to align the release with the iPhone 17 launch next month and share details about the public release of iOS 26.
