Srinagar, Aug 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday said it has registered a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case against an employee of the Animal Husbandry Department.
According to sources, the case has been filed against Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Ahmad Dar, a resident of Gassu Batapora, Hazratbal, Srinagar, for allegedly amassing assets far beyond his known sources of income.
“The case was registered after a discreet verification revealed that the employee had accumulated wealth grossly disproportionate to his legitimate earnings,” the ACB said in a statement.
The verification found that Dar owns movable and immovable assets worth crores of rupees, including two palatial houses at Gassu Batapora, a three-storeyed commercial complex at Main Market Gassu Batapora, large tracts of land in Gassu Batapora and adjoining Hadoora, besides a luxury vehicle (KIA Seltos).
“The value of assets acquired and expenditure incurred by the suspect were found disproportionate to his known sources of income,” the statement added.
Following this, a case under FIR No. 15/2025 was registered at ACB Police Station Srinagar under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).
The ACB further said that searches are being carried out at three residential premises of the accused in the presence of Executive Magistrates after obtaining proper search warrants from a competent court. Further investigation is underway.
