New Delhi: The trailer for Raj Kundra and Geeta Basra’s upcoming Punjabi film, Mehar, has officially been released.
Marking Raj Kundra’s debut in Punjabi cinema, the trailer introduces him as Karamjit, a Sikh man with dreams of becoming an actor. As the story unfolds, Karamjit signs a film contract but is deceived, leading to major professional and personal setbacks. The trailer culminates with Karamjit rising against the challenges, transforming into a determined and resilient fighter.
Directed and written by Rakesh Mehta, Mehar promises a “heartfelt story”—a narrative where love, loss, and relationships intertwine.
The trailer launch took place in Chandigarh, attended by the lead actors, Raj Kundra and Geeta Basra, along with Shilpa Shetty Kundra and former cricketer Harbhajan Singh.
Speaking at the event, Raj Kundra said he felt “overwhelmed” by the trailer and expressed gratitude to the film’s team. He added, “It is a tale of relationships. I have been through a lot in my life. I’ve fallen, I’ve broken, but I’m not finished.”
Shilpa Shetty Kundra praised her husband’s Punjabi film debut, saying, “The team has worked very hard on the film. I feel so proud today. I am here as his wife, not as an actor.”
Geeta Basra, who plays the female lead, described Mehar as a “complete package.” She shared that watching the trailer left her “emotional” and added, “There’s a feeling of pride. I believe Punjabi audiences will be entertained and feel proud of the film. It’s a complete family entertainer with various emotions, relationships, and great songs.” She also emphasized that the film offers a fresh and unique storyline.
Her husband, Harbhajan Singh, also congratulated the film’s team, saying, “It is a very good film. A big congratulations to everyone. They have worked very hard. The film gives a good message to audiences, and I hope all Punjabis will enjoy it.”
Mehar is scheduled for release on September 5, 2025.
